Bishop Barrington Constantine Hibbert was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. During his early pre-teens he moved to the city of Kingston, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. His spiritual fervor and potential to make a difference was recognized by the older saints, and as a result he was made a Sunday school teacher at an early age.
He later migrated to the United States in 1971 where he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) Inc. in Paterson New Jersey. His zeal for God remained evident as Bishop Hibbert, then known as, “Brother Barry,” became an active worker in the church, holding various offices such as local and international Youth President for a total of 7 years, director of the senior choir, and president of the Building Fund department. During his time at the church in Paterson, Bishop Hibbert traveled to various foreign countries. His foreign missions took him to various parts of India, Nigeria, Liberia and Hong Kong to preach the word of God. Additionally, Bishop Hibbert has traveled extensively in Canada, England, various parts of the United States, and Trinidad spreading the word of the kingdom of God.
He was first ordained as an Evangelist in 1978, then an Elder, an Overseer and finally, a Bishop, an office he presently holds. Then in 1999 Bishop B. C. Hibbert answered the call of God and started a work in Morristown, NJ, which subsequently moved to Passaic.
He worked full time for over 30-years in the corporate environment and currently works as a mental health counselor. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College, 3 Master of Science degrees, which includes his Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Bishop Hibbert has also earned a PhD in Theology in theology from Trinity Theological Seminary.
On the social side Bishop Hibbert was married to the late Evangelist Erica C. Hibbert which union produced two sons, Barrington Clayon and Triston DiShawn, and seven grandchildren. Bishop Hibbert has a good sense of humor and he sings well. He enjoys reading, exercising, traveling and meeting people.
Bishop Hibbert is a learned Bible teacher who takes great pleasure in imparting the scriptures to his congregation and others. But if one should comment on his knowledge of the scriptures, his response would be that he has a lot more to learn. He is a dynamic preacher who takes the word of God seriously, relying upon the Holy Ghost for his anointing and delivery. He preaches the core message of salvation to bring believers to Christ. He practices what God demands His servants must do; being instruments to win
souls for Christ. He sees himself as one saved by Grace, and incorporates this fact when reaching to the unsaved. His vision for the church extends outside the walls of the building, touching lives that are in dire need of salvation and comfort. Above all, Bishop Barrington Constantine Hibbert loves the Lord with all is soul, heart and mind.
